I love to watch movies at the movie theater. Last year I watched quite a few movies that I liked. So in this post I thought I would show you some of my favorite movies, in approximate order.
1. Big Hero Six
This movie was AMAZING! All the characters were well developed and unique. Fred was hilarious; Hiro was super cute and little ect, ect. I also really liked Tadashi. He was practically perfect. Everything was wrapped up and ended relatively well. Sure, it wasn’t terribly complex but it is a kid’s movie.
2. Captain America: Winter Soldier
I think the best part of this movie was Steve’s (Captain America’s) character development. He really grew as a character. Natasha (Black Widow) was great. I love the way that they interacted. The humor was well placed and funny. I also really liked the plot twist involving the winter soldier’s identity. I thought that was really cool.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
First off, the soundtrack was amazing! I love that they used those old songs in the movie. It’s a great movie to watch when you just want something fun and not very serious. The vilian wasn’t very complex though. He was basically the typical bad guy. That wasn’t that much of a bad thing though since the movie was pretty much made to be funny. Which it succeeded in.
4. The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (SPOILERS BELOW)
This movie wrapped up the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies amazingly. Sure there was lots of death but I actually didn’t mind the way they died. The only death I didn’t like very much was Kili’s. I only half-heartedly ship Kili and Tauriel, so the fact that he died for her didn’t feel right. But the rest of the movie was great. I especially like the part at the end with the Sackville-Baggins selling all of Bilbo’s furniture. Oh and The Last Goodbye is one of my favorite songs right not so that was amazing too XD
5. How to Train Your Dragon 2
The first time I watched this I was somewhat disapointed but I watched again with my family and I really liked it. I particularly like any part with Hiccup and Astrid. They are so cute together! I really love how their relationship was portrayed in such a real manner. Major points for Dreamworks!
6. X-Men: Days of Future Past
I went to this with my sister and I remember really liking it. It was a little inappropriate at one part which I remember surprising me but the movie was great over all. I really liked the ending! It was so different and unexpected. I can’t wait to watch the sequel.
7. The Maze Runner
This was another great movie. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. The casting was great. I really liked Newt. I don’t completely know why though… Probably cause he has been in Doctor Who haha. (SPOILER: The one thing I don’t understand is why the movie ended the way it did. Maybe it’s just me, but the bad guys faking their deaths didn’t make sense to me. I don’t see how that would be an advantage for them. It was just said that it was some part of the test. But maybe I’ll understand when I watch the second movie.)
8. The Lego Movie
This, like Guardians of the Galaxy, was very funny. I think one of my favorite scenes was when Emmet and Wyldstyle were in “The Old West” and he’s trying to fit in. So yeah. I don’t know what else to say about it.
9. Mocking Jay Part 1
This movie was good. It was a bit long (since they are splitting the book into two parts) but that didn’t make it that bad, at least for me. Everything involving Peeta gave me chills. I’m rather excited to see what’s going to happen with him next. And I liked Primrose and Effie. Katniss annoyed me slightly. I go back and forth between liking and disliking her. She seems melodramatic to me sometimes. But I guess she can be forgiven because of all that she has been through.
10. The Amazing Spider-man 2
I really wanted to like this movie. The loved the first one a LOT. This movie had several things that just weren’t very good though. There were two villians (three if you count rhino man at the end), Peter and Gwen were having relationship problems, Peter was trying to find out more about his parents, ect. I think the writers were trying to pack to much content into one movie. Andrew Garfield was great at playing Peter once again [*hint hint* (I really hope Sony won’t reboot the series)] and Gwen was also amazing.
So there we are! I’m going to try to post every other week on Thursdays at least, just to let you guys know.
So what did you guys think? What are your favorite movies from last year?
